So, two and a half years after I first met with Sam Devries during his stay in São Paulo for shoot # 25 of 100 NUDE Shoots, it was finally my turn to visit him in New York. I remember very well how that shoot was iconic in that it was the first time I was expressing explicit sexuality in my work without concerning myself with the repercussions. Rather, I enjoyed opening up this new frontier: no longer being limited to discussing the desexualisation of nudity, but instead proposing the naturalisation of sexuality.

Well, this time around, Sam took me to the nudist beach in Fire Island, and I felt immediately relaxed and free to express that eroticism once more.

I’m excited to be back to publishing the nude photoshoots on my website. There’s so much I’ve produced in collaboration with many amazing artists over these past two years, during which I’ve all but stopped publishing my work. These have been very trying times, a long period of transition full of ups and downs, and by the end of it I find myself questioning everything I do a lot, maybe much more than I should. But when Sam — a beautiful and generous human being with whom I’ve developed a rare connection — sent me the pictures and I looked at them, it helped me realise I’m finally coming out of this crisis better than before. Even if I can’t say I’m now more determined, I look and feel closer to the image I think I’ve always had of myself deep within. And that’s very motivating.

Finally, I’d like to recall what I wrote when I first published shoot # 25 by Sam Devries back in 2017:

I’m taking a diagonal step in the nudity naturalization road to state that sex itself should be also viewed without scandal. I believe if sex was also naturalized, unrestricted, uncensored, made into a common subject, there would be no more sexual guilt, no more shame, no more sexual harassment, rape, pedophilia, no more sexual exploitation. Why is it we fear sex so much? Let’s censor sexism, not sex. Let’s censor violence, discrimination, humiliation, xenophobia instead. Let’s be sex-positive.
